Materials Vocabulary - Sorting Game (6 pages in total). Activity: Sort the 30 words into 2 categories: Materials (15 words in total) and Properties of materials (15 words in total). If a child is not familiar with a word, ask them to use a dictionary to find out what it means. . 2 other games to play with these words: . Reveal and Tell - place the cards face down. In pairs, take turns to turn over a card. Say if it is a ‘material’ or ‘property of a material’. Say it first - in pairs, deal out the cards. Players must not see their cards. Take turns to turn over a card and place it face up on the table. The first person to say the correct answer (material OR property) wins the card. Keep playing until all cards are won.
